Durham Technical Community College (Durham Tech)

Durham Technical Community College is a public, two-year institution founded in 1961 and part of the North Carolina Community College System. Its main campus is at 1637 East Lawson Street in Durham, and the college operates seven campuses and instructional sites across Durham and Orange counties, including the Orange County Campus in Hillsborough and the Northern Durham Center. Durham Tech reports serving more than 18,000 students annually across credit and non-credit offerings; federal IPEDS data for fall 2024 record 5,157 undergraduates enrolled in credit programs, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 7 to 1. The college awards more than 90 associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in fields including health technologies, engineering technologies, information technology, public safety, business, and the arts. Trade and technical offerings include Industrial Systems Technology and HVAC, welding, automotive systems technology, electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry and construction trades, machining, biomedical equipment technology, culinary arts, cosmetic arts, pharmacy technology, and medical assisting, alongside continuing-education and workforce courses and registered apprenticeships. Classes are scheduled days, evenings, and weekends, with online and hybrid options and fall, spring, and summer start terms. Durham Technical Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates; the nursing programs hold separate accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
